Prepare to be amazed, because cars we are about to present, are some of the fastest on the planet! Top 10 Fastest Cars 2016! Speeds which following cars are able to produce are simply astonishing. These models are currently pinnacle of automotive industry, desired by many people, but owned by few. It wasn’t easy to classify these supercars, because they are truly excellent, but we had to introduce some value in order to sort them. According to their top speed, these are:

10. Pagani Huayra – Top speed 238 mph – Top 10 Fastest Cars 2016
Assembled in Modena (Italy), from many high quality components and distinguished aerodynamically design, it was created to dominate both race tracks and roads. Powered by Mercedes-AMG M158 engine (created exclusively for Huayra) this car can reach 0-62 mph in just 3 seconds! This 6 liters twin-turbo, V12 engine produces 720 bhp and 811 lb·ft of torque. Transmission is 7-speed sequential with a single disc clutch. The top speed of this model is 238 mph. Brembo carbon-ceramic brake calipers, 15-inch in size, are intended for stopping this car. Unfortunately, only 100 Huayras were produced and sold.

9. McLaren F1 – Top speed 240 mph
For many years, this pride and joy of British engineering, was known as the fastest car in the world. At the same time, it was inspiration and rival to others, who were threatening its throne. Despite being produced in 90’s, this car still deserves a place in this list, for its impressive performance. The McLaren F1 was the first production car to use a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis. Engine bay houses 6.1 Liter V-12 engine known as BMW S70/2. This power plant provides 627 hp at 7400 rpm and torque output of 480 lb·ft at 5600 rpm. The engine has a redline rev limiter set at 7500 rpm. With 6-speed manual gearbox, this car’s top speed reaches 240 mph and only 3.2 seconds required to accelerate 0-60 MPH. According to some track tests, performed by McLaren, this car is able to reach 242.8 MPH, but this included the removal of the rev limiter. The number of F1 produced and sold worldwide is 106. Only 71 units were road legal, while the remaining were prototypes, and racing versions.

8) Koenigsegg CCR – Top speed 242 mph
Inspired by McLaren F1 and fueled by the desire to beat its speed record, Swedish car manufacturer created this CCR model. And it really did that. With a top speed of 242 MPH it won and held ownership of the record for some time. Under the bonnet, 4.7 Liters V8 engine is installed with power output of 806 bhp at 6.900 rpm, maximum torque of 678 lb-ft at 5.700 rpm and maximum rpm of 7.250 rpm. From 0-62 MPH takes 3.2 seconds, and transmission is 6-speed manual. During its production from 2004-2006 only 14 Koenigsegg CCR were made, so it is quite a privilege owning one.

7. Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo – Top speed 248 mph
From sunny California, arrives No. 7 on our list. This car was produced from 2005-2009 as an improved version of original S7 model. Powered by 7 Liter twin-turbocharged OHV V8 Ford 427 engine, the Saleen S7 is able to produce 750 HP at 6300 rpm and the maximum torque to 700 lb·ft at 4800 rpm. Gearbox is 6-speed manual. It takes only 2.8 sec for gauges to jump 0–60 mph, which propels this vehicle up to a top speed of 248 mph.

6. Koenigsegg CCX – Top speed 250 MPH
Second model from Koenigsegg might look like an updated version of CCR. But actually CCX is a totally different type of car. It was one of the first models from this Swedish car manufacturer that could be sold world-wide, due to the fact that meets ecological, safety, and consumer’s requirement. Constructors put an effort to produce a car with superior performance, but still with attractive style and comfort. Koenigsegg also introduced many technologies in this model, which result in car’s better handling. The engine inside Koenigsegg CCX, crafted by Koenigsegg, is 4.8 liters V8 with 888 HP at 7000 rpm, with maximum torque 693 lb. -ft. at 5800 rpm. Transmission is specially developed transversal 6-speed gearbox, with optional paddle-shift.
Top speed of Koenigsegg CCX is 250 MPH.
5. 9ff GT9-R – Top speed 254 mph
Employees from German tuning house 9ff, probably thought that Porsche’s legendary 911 isn’t powerful enough. What they did is they’ve taken Porsche 911 (977) GT3, and made it faster, more powerful, with increased stiffness and huge downforce. This extensively rebuilt Porsche is available with heavily modified flat 6 engine 4 L twin-turbocharged with unbelievable 1.120 HP!!! Transmission is 6-speed manual, and engine launches this machine 0–62 mph in 2.9 seconds which results in 254 MPH top speed. Have ever considered buying this thing? Well, guess what? There are only 20 models on the planet, and they are all sold out.
4. SSC Ultimate Aero TT – Top speed 257.41 mph
It’s well known that cars which wear Shelby signature are destined to become ultimate sport cars. That is also the case with SSC Ultimate Aero. With this car everything is about increased aerodynamic, as its name suggests, but also it brings more power than its predecessor. Original SSC twin-turbocharged 6.3 Liter engine produces breath-taking force of 1,287 HP at 6075 rpms. Maximum torque 1,112 lb·ft at 6150 rpm, and a maximum speed of 257.41 MPH. Gearbox is 7 speed manual or automatic, and the red line is on 7200 rpm.
3. Koenigsegg Agera R – Top speed 260 MPH
Vikings strike again! And with proper tool, which is advertised as a “Thor’s Hammer”. Already excellent Agera was redesigned in R edition to enhance both performance and visual appearance even more. It features many goodies such are: visible carbon on the front bonnet and bumper, new front side winglets, an all-new Aero exhaust, increased engine power with a raised RPM limit. Moreover, it provides outstanding performance with hybrid engine which uses biofuel to operate. As for specs, V8 5 liter twin-turbocharged engine has power output is 1140 hp at 7100 rpm, max torque is 885 lb. /ft. at 4100 rpm. Transmission is 7-speed dual clutch with paddle shifters which makes possible to get 0-62 MPH in just 2.8 seconds. To add more to exclusivity, only 18 units of Agera R were produced from 2011 to 2014.
2. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport – Top speed 268 MPH
Since its production started back in 2005, up to these days original Bugatti Veyron became one of the synonyms for speed and raw power output. The Super Sport edition managed to break world speed record for a street legal car in 2010, and confirmed it following year. A machine like this comes with superb hardware under the bonnet: 8.0 liter W16, 64 valves 2xDOHC quad-turbocharged petrol engine, with increased power of 1,200 HP at 6400 rpm, a torque of 1,100 lb·ft, and a revised aerodynamic package. The transmission includes 7-speed DSG automatic shifter, and 0-62 MPH time is 2.5 seconds As a result, record breaking top speed for that time was set at 268.856 MPH. Produced in only 20 units, this car was available as Bugatti Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition. This limited edition was manufactured in just 5 units, and exterior includes special black exposed full-carbon monoqoque body with an orange body detailing and orange rims. Electrical limitation of 258 mph is removed, allowing a car to hit the record speed of 267.856 mph.
And the 1st place of Top 10 Fastest Cars 2016 is:
1. Hennessey Venom GT – Top speed 270.49 MPH
Finally, the first place goes to the fastest street legal car in the world – Hennessey Venom GT. This vehicle is able to reach a top speed of fantastic 270.49 MPH. Moreover, in the Guinness Book of Records it holds record of 13.64 seconds for accelerating from 0-83 MPH. Built on Lotus Exige chassis, the Venom GT includes some heavy modifications, and a powertrain is twin turbocharged 7.0 Liters V8 GM LS7 engine with 1244 bhp at 6600 rpm and maximum torque of 1155 lb-ft at 4400 rpm. Just 2.7 seconds is enough for this car to reach 0-60, and Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission is borrowed from Ford GT. Up to this date only 16 units were sold. Last year, labeled as Venom GT “World’s Fastest Edition”, 3 units were produced to commemorate the Venom GT coupe’s 0–300 km/h Guinness World Record.
