Unlike previous generations that were more utility oriented, the 2016 Dodge Durango comes with a slightly better styling. Although the features of a crossover are present in its design, it managed to preserve the ruggedness and power of which is well known. This is most obvious at the front grille with its traditional crosshair shape. The hood and a lower fascia are slightly remodeled.

As for headlights matters, only Durango SXT is equipped with LED lights, while other trims are upgraded with HID headlamps. Moreover, the back of the car is ornamented with signature racetrack LED lights similar to those seen on Charger or Dart. This taillight includes 192 individual LED diodes.

Dodge made Durango available in eleven different colors: Bright White, True Blue Pearl, Maximum Steel Metallic, Redline Red 2-Coat Pearl, Billet Silver Metallic, Granite Crystal Metallic, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl, Ivory Pearl Tri-Coat, Velvet Red Pearl, Light Brownstone Pearl and Luxury Brown Pearl.

Upon entering a spacious cabin of Dodge Durango, passengers are greeted with various luxurious features and stylistic innovations. The dashboard consists of 7-inch Digital Cluster Display which provides basic information about driving. Bulky leather appointed steering wheel includes built-in hands-free and buttons for remote control of dashboard and car’s multimedia. Center console is occupied by 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect NAV infotainment system.

Depending on a chosen trim, inside of Durango, there is a room for up to seven passengers. Behind the headrest of driver’s and co-driver’s seats, two 9-inch screens can be installed as an option, to entertain passengers on the rear.

Another class-exclusive feature is rotary E-shift, instead of the traditional gear stick. Passengers in the back have also separate climate control, together with USB connectors and AC power plug.

2016 Dodge Durango Engine and Specs

Two engines are available for 2016 Dodge Durango. The first option is 3.6 Liter V6 engine, that can produce 295 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque. With the eight-speed automatic transmission, Durango that has rear-wheel drive reaches estimated fuel economy of 27 MPG on a highway, while fuel economy all-wheel drive model is 25 MPG on a highway.  In city fuel economy is 19 MPG for RWD, and 18 MPG for AWD model.

For more performance-oriented drivers Dodge offered 5.7 Liter Hemi V8 engine. This powertrain can generate 360 HP and 390 lb-ft of a torque. Transmission is again eight-speed automatic. Fuel efficiency for V8 is 22 MPG on a highway and 14 MPG in a city for both RWD and AWD.

One of the most important information for potential buyers of the Durango is its towing capacity. When attached to the trailer the 2016 Durango can tow up to 6,200 lbs with a V6 engine or impressive 7,400 lbs with a V8 engine.

The new 2016 Dodge Durango is available in five trims: SXT, SXT Plus, Limited, Citadel and R/T. Price starts from $30,495 for basic SXT and goes up to $41,995 for sporty R/T edition.
