The first Audi Q7 had been unveiled back in September 2007 and since then it went through various updates. Last December manufacturers came up with official specs and details regarding the new generation – 2016 Audi Q7. The new model comes with brand new design, updated engines, updated interior and probably the most important, the first diesel plug-in hybrid with quattro drive in the segment.
2016 Audi Q7 Interior
The 2016 Audi Q7 interior is very spacious despite the fact that it’s a bit narrower than previous model. It offers a lot of leg room thanks to extended length, as well increased headroom and cargo space. Elegantly designed interior provides quiet drive, abundance of light thanks to the sunroof, while everything is covered in high quality materials – Cricket, Alcona, Alcantara leather with aluminum or wood accents.
Drivers will be happy to see a brand new three spoke steering wheel with various mounted controls, air-conditioning system which is also completely new and instrument cluster which is now completely digital. As optional feature, interior of the 2016 Audi Q7 can be equipped with two tablets for rear passenger’s entertainment. There will be seven colors available with several types of seating including sport seats, standard seats, seats with additional functions like air-conditioning etc.
The new 2016 Audi Q7 will be offered in eleven exterior colors. So far we didn’t manage to find out which ones exactly, but we know that four of them will be new ones. Overall, the new Q7 is completely redesigned, showing sharper lines and masculine appearance. On the front, single frame grille dominates with thick crossbars, however, it nicely blends with LED headlights and gives unique appearance. Depending on exterior package, changes on side sills, air inlets, standard bumpers and other features are possible.
2016 Audi Q7 Engine, 0-60, MPG
Customers will have to decide for one among three engines available for 2016 Audi Q7. The first one is 3.0 TDI, which delivers 272 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 62.1 mph in 6.3 seconds. Second engine available is 3.0 TFSI, which generates 333 horsepower and takes 6.1 second to accelerate to 62.1 miles per hour from a standstill. Models with these two engines are to hit the market on spring 2015 and a bit later the new Q7 e-tron quattro hybrid with a diesel engine is to follow. This aggregate will generate 373 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, with amazing fuel efficiency of 138.4 miles per gallon.
2016 Audi Q7 Price and Release Date
According to the manufacturer, the new 2016 Audi Q7 will be available from the first quarter of 2016 and the price is not yet known. However, we can estimate that the price will start from around $50,000.
Overall, we can say that the new Audi Q7 brings some nice changes. It features nicely designed cabin, sportier exterior, revised engines and improved efficiency. All that is left to be seen is its price after all these updates, and how it will compete with tough competition in the segment.
