After years of testings and different concept ideas, the new 2016 Acura NSX has been unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The first NSX model dates back to 1990, exactly 25 years ago, and now it comes completely updated, more powerful and with some serious additions. Let’s take a look on this new model and see what it hides insides.
2016 Acura NSX Exterior
Exterior of the 2016 Acura NSX is very similar to the concept version shown back in 2013 but of course, this production version shows some differences. On first sight, the front of both models is very similar. Large grille on the front is still there, but the production model features two air intakes on its bumper, headlamps with six LED units and LED stripe with large air intakes below them.
One of the most prominent changes lies around back where four exhaust pipes are now placed in the middle. The body of this car with very nice and modern design is made in aluminum, high strength steel and carbon fiber, promising lightweight and rigidity by manufacturer.
2016 Acura NSX Interior
If you liked the exterior, wait till you see 2016 Acura NSX interior. Combination of red, black and aluminum accented surfaces blend very well with all the knobs inside of this car. The instrument cluster features three meters, including TFT center master which changes according to Integrated Dynamics System settings while racing designed steering wheel features all essential controls at the reach of fingers.
2016 Acura NSX Engine Specs and Performance
Alright, all this looks and sounds nice, but what about drivetrain? Although Acura was a bit selfish with details, enough information has been revealed to spark our imagination. Under the hood will be all new 75 degree DOHC twin-turbocharged V-6 engine which will be paired with a 9 speed dual clutch transmission. This engine will work alongside THREE electric motors – rear direct drive electric motor and twin electric motor which powers front axle.
There are no official details, but we are almost sure that the new NSX will have output of more than 500 HP.
2016 Acura NSX Price
The manufacturer is also silent when it comes to prices. The only information regarding 2016 Acura NSX price is that Acura is aiming to be within the price range of Audi R8, which means the starting price could start from around $140,000. And what about 2016 Acura NSX release date? Well, guess what – the manufacturer is silent on this one too, but we can expect it at the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016.
